It all began on...

November 24, 2008

After a highly competitive bidding process, Nuclear Management Partners was awarded the contract by the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority to own the shares in the site licence company, Sellafield Ltd, and to oversee the management and operations of the Sellafield site for what could be up to 17 years.

Nuclear Management Partners, a consortium of US company URS, British company AMEC and AREVA of France, brings unrivalled experience from three global companies onto the Sellafield site. The company will own the shares for an initial period of five years with the total value of the contract over 17 years a possible £22 billion.

Based on the Westlakes Science Park in Cumbria, Nuclear Management Partners, is now driving forward change through innovation on the Sellafield site while also playing a major role in the socio-economic fabric of West Cumbria.
